Original title: Sans titre
€1,200
Vertical format. Here we find the same logic of floating blocks outlined in black as in some of the canvases by Marie Claire SCANDELLA, but with a more open composition on the right (a large bright yellow flat area, a pink-lilac sky at the top) and a much denser, more textured one on the left. A vertical-horizontal red cross structures the centre, and the night-violet block at the top left acts as a visual counterweight to the yellow at the bottom right. The striking element (the two stencilled motifs, the "crocodile skin" or "scales" texture in red on a cream ground at the bottom left, and the same motif in negative in the violet block at the top) is a gesture very different from the turquoise canvases; the drips beneath the violet block (small drops strung like a necklace) add an elegant vertical movement. A warm, sunlit palette: strong yellow, orange, vermilion red, with the violet and the lilac pink as cool notes that avoid monotony. It is a luminous, frank, "summer" canvas. As for technique, the large yellow flat area on the right is heavily textured, with deeply marked palette-knife furrows, almost like a ploughed field; the stencils with organic patterns (scales, honeycomb cells) are a recurring gesture in the artist's work; the central reds are a glossy flat area, almost lacquered, with a strong impasto that catches the light. The sky at the top is treated in very thin, watercolour-like glazes, which contrast with the dense matter of the lower part. This canvas shows a fine chromatic energy and a strong mastery of the contrast between smooth and textured matter.
